Tips for a successful Boudoir Session
1. Bring a few different outfit options. We can help you choose when you get to your session. Dress to your comfort level and to your body type. Also, be sure to consider which colors look best with your skin tone (ex. For example if you’re very pale, try to avoid white and pastel colors, because it will make you look washed out!). We also have a ton of items in our client closet you’re welcome to use.
2. Remove all price and sizing tags from lingerie. Even the permanent ones. Sometimes they really stick out especially in see through items.
3. Don't forget shoes! Heels elongate and slim the legs and are a perfect touch to any look. Again, bring a variety of heels to your session and we can help you decide which will look the best with what you’ll wear.
4. Jewelry and accessories (knee high socks for example) are great to add to any look. Bring a few of your favorite pieces if you’d like. Also, brides, feel free to bring your veil and garter, always a great addition if you are doing a bridal boudoir session.
5. Don't forget to moisturize. The morning of (or even right before you come) to give your skin a fresh and glowy, smooth look. Don't forget knees and elbows, that's where we look the most dry.
6. Skip the fake tan. No matter how natural tanning sprays and lotions may seem, they create an orange glow that cannot be retouched after your session. If you’re applying it yourself it can also look very streaky. For any other type of session, this wouldn't be a huge problem, butttt for a boudoir session, you're showing a lot more skin, it's a lot more noticeable if you have fake tan streaks. Natural is always best in photographs when it comes to your skin!
7. Paint your Nails & Toes! Freshly painted polish always look nicer in photos. Not really a nail polish person? A clear coat still makes your nails look fresh. If you want to go all out, treat yourself to a mani & pedi a day or two before your session. Neutrals work best with whatever outfit you plan to wear.
8. Don't forget to take hair ties off wrists! What girl doesn't always have a hair tie on her wrist, right? Having a hair tie on your wrist can make indents on your arm that will last hours and show in photos... we don't want that!
9. Avoid wearing tight clothing before your session. This leaves indents in the skin that will show in your photographs as well. Tight fitting clothing includes; skinny jeans, leggings, socks, cami/tank top, long sleeve shirt. ect. Wear loose fitting clothes and undergarments to avoid this. Throw on some sandals or slippers, a flowy dress, a t shirt/sweats etc.
10. Bring extra makeup and hairspray. - This is always a good idea, in case we need to do any touch ups. Especially lipstick or lip gloss, which is the most likely to wear off. If your skin tends toward the oily side, bring oiling blotting sheets, so you can freshen up during your session if you start to feel shiny.
11. Stay Hydrated! - Drink plenty of water the day before your session. This helps make your skin hydrated and glowy. Try to avoid any alcohol or excess salt the day before your session, as this can cause greasy looking skin and bloating.
12. Bring a friend if you’d like for moral support and make a girls day out of it! We’re huge hype girls so if you’d rather come solo you will not be lacking in support!
13. Allow plenty of time to arrive a few minutes early. You’ll feel at ease and ready to slay your boudoir session!
14. Most of all, have fun! - Don’t worry about a thing! Trust in your photographers! We will coach you through poses and photograph you from the most flattering angles. It’ll be a great time and we’ll make you look and feel fabulous!
